If you buy Critical Illness insurance from a tied agent or sales person, they will probably receive payment in the form of wages, benefits, commission, or a combination of all three.

When you build a relationship with an IFA, they will receive a commission to cover their professional time, research and business overheads.

Alternatively, they may discuss fees at an hourly rate or work for a fixed fee, rather than receiving commission.

You will be asked to sign a "Terms of Business" which will set out the basis of remuneration you agree with your IFA.

The actual cost of your Critical Illness policy will depend on the type of policy, term, sum assured, your age and health - as well as other underwriting criteria. You will need an IFA to advise you on the policy that is best for you. Click here to view sample premiums from our sponsors, for a policy with a £100,000 sum assured - based on a 10-year Term
policy or, where appropriate, a Maximum Cover Whole of Life.
